Rutland Water is amass with huge shoals of Perch, often targeted by the predatory guys! The fry make up for many of the millions we see around the margins through late summer to the winter months.

Trout will be choosey. I’ve proven that they will refuse a standard popper if they’re feeding on perch minnows and a switch to this one has given instant results and vice versa if they’re feeding on bream fry or roach fry etc.

Many fish these on floaters which is awesome but try them on sinkers too, it works!

Iain Barr Tip – Fish static as a single fly for best results AND trim any excess skin to leave just a bit of fur out the back if you are getting refusals or nips. Fish this if perch fry are present.
